This shopping mall, with its heavy foot traffic, places strong emphasis on providing a comfortable shopping environment. The existing AHUs used traditional bag filters with high airflow resistance, leading to heavy fan loads and high energy consumption. The client sought a solution to improve air quality while reducing energy use.
The key challenge was to reduce HVAC energy consumption without compromising PM2.5 filtration performance. Lower-grade filters could not meet air quality requirements, while keeping the old setup meant high operating costs. The mall also required a fast retrofit that would not disrupt daily operations.
AQT installed the EAF MESP Electronic Air Filter in the shopping mall’s AHU. The module is fully compatible with standard media filter dimensions, allowing a quick 30-minute installation with no structural changes. Using advanced MESP technology, the EAF combines electrostatic filtration and disinfection with ionizing brush discharge, releasing negative ions for stronger purification. With high-efficiency performance, ultra-low resistance, and washable, reusable filters lasting up to 10 years, it ensures high air quality and lower energy use. The system is also customizable for any AHU, reducing maintenance and supporting sustainable operation.
After installation, air velocity rose to 1.6 m/s and was adjusted to 1.4 m/s, matching the original airspeed. Fan power dropped from 12 kW to 6 kW (~50% energy savings), while PM2.5 levels decreased significantly. The retrofit was completed in 30 minutes with no disruption, confirming that the EAF system delivers cleaner air and remarkable energy savings.
