Project Overview

Folplast Ltd., a Hungarian manufacturer of PE-based packaging materials founded in 1968, has grown through continuous investment in technology and sustainability. To improve indoor air quality, the company launched an air-handling upgrade in its extrusion plant, integrating heat recovery and ventilation.

Challenge

The extrusion process generated significant airborne pollutants, mainly polyethylene and paraffin particles, which accumulated near the ceiling. The air purification system had to effectively remove these contaminants, operate reliably at a height of 10–12 meters, and require minimal maintenance. It also needed to integrate with the existing HVAC system and meet safety standards, including zero ozone emission.

Solution

To address the air pollution in Folplast’s extrusion plant, the company selected the FKE-G Series of Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) from AirQuality Technology. This industrial-grade system is designed for high-efficiency purification of fine particulate matter, with durable aviation-grade aluminum plates that resist corrosion and carbonization. The large collection area and high pollutant-holding capacity reduce maintenance frequency—especially important for units installed 10–12 meters high. The patented hollow ESP cells dry within one hour after cleaning, minimizing downtime. Clean air is discharged at ground level, and the system operates safely with no ozone emission, UL-compliant insulation, and certified fire protection.

Result

After installation, PM2.5 and PM10 levels dropped from 144 µg/m³ and 168 µg/m³ to just 8 µg/m³ and 9 µg/m³ respectively. Ozone emission was measured at 0.000 ppm. The improved air quality and low-maintenance performance met the client’s expectations, contributing to a cleaner and safer working environment.
